Solve : HP Pavilon a6500f has BSOD?

Answer»

I have an HP pavilion a6500f desktop running WINDOWS xp.  Ive been having problems with it.  When I turn it on, it first gives me that screen that says 'Start windows normally',  etc.  If I click on any of the options, safe mode, normal mode, ... it gives me a BSOD after a SHORT while that says 'Windows encountered a serious error and has  been shut down to prevent further damage'. At the end of the message are the numbers:

Stop: 0x0600007b (0xBA4C3542, 0xC0000034, 0x00000000, 0x000000000)

Any idea what this means
I would be interested to know if you FOLLOWED/tried any of the solutions/suggestions from this alternative post which i believe is yours on another forum? " shashman " "www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic402643.html" truenorthI tried to follow the advice but they all have stuff to do that requires the computer to boot up properly.  Mine doesnt, I get the BSOD before a bootup.  I get the splash screen, then the startup screen where it shows windows xp and then a bsod followed by a restart
Does it boot properly in safemode ? ?
No it doesnt even get to safe mode.  If I press F8 after the computer STARTS, I get the list of drivers that are going to be skipped, the list that you see when you boot into safe mode.  But shortly after that the computer shuts down and reboots with the same BSOD
Could you please give us a bit of history on this computer. How long have you had it? Has it always behaved this way? What have you tried to do to deal with this issue up to posting your issue on the forums? What if anything can you remember that was coincident to this problem arising? What software/hardware have you added/changed coincident to this problem arising? Remember my earlier admonishment in another post to provide more than less information to enable us to deal with your issue. truenorthI have had this computer for about 4 years now.  I had noticed that at one point my computer was getting rather slow and also i had a bunch of unwanted programs on there that i was not able to delete through add/remove.  Also I did a scan with malware bytes resulting in a lot of trojans and stuff so I decided to reload the operating system.  Thats when the problems began.  I think the hard drive may have gone out although I dont see why it would do so suddenly.  I hadnt added any hardware.  But I dont know for sure.  I think its either bad ram or a bad hard drive.

I dont know how to check what might be wrong
Well as a very easy start do exactly what you did with your other laptop that resulted in you regaining use. That is deal with the ram in the same manner. If that doesn't change anything we can move on from there. How did you do this "so I decided to reload the operating system"? If the HDD was working before you decided to reload the O/S it is unlikely that it is now the problem (hardware wise). Your slowness may well have been related to "resulting in a lot of trojans and stuff " if indeed the "malware bytes " had done a credible scan and was not just trying to get you to buy something. For your future consideration you would have been better advised to have gone to our forum on viruses etc rather than reloading your O/S. report back on your efforts with the ram.truenorthCourtesy of MSDN::
