Solve : huge ping...?

since I upgraded to windows 7 I was suffering from a bad PING, even when (dual) booting from vista it didn't have this.
my mac didn't have this either.

so I started changing the network (router) settings a bit and then the ping on every machine went high.
resetting it helps, but only for a couple of minutes, I even tried resetting all the settings, but nothing helped.
my router is a sweex LW055 and I have tried upgrading the firmware, but that didn't even work (it just didn't upgrade, although it said it did)

also, first it also happened locally, but now it only HAPPENS externally
my xbox 360 is suffering from this too.
on my windows 7 pc it's always high, but on the other computers its good when no other computers are on.1. Please define the following terms:
a. Huge ping
b. Bad ping
c. High ping

2. If you're referring to "time", please "quantify" in milliseconds what you consider; huge, bad, and high.

it varies from about 200 to 5000

no, but let me start over again.
I have this setup with 1 partition for vista and 1 partition for windows 7.
I also have a macbook and my sister has another laptop (vista).
all those computers have good ping, except for when I boot into windows 7, so its not a problem with the ISP and neither is it a hardware problem.great, I just noticed its slow on every computer here
I hate my ISP, I just spend $50 on a router... its nothing faster!
and I just can't game with this type of connection!Well you could always go back to appreciating the beauty and natural rhythms of planet earth...a 50$ router is cheat as far as ROUTERS go.... mine was almost 200$...
