Solve : I want my WEP back.?

Answer»

Recently I bought a new router. And also I have to install XP again on another partition on the laptop as a panic tool.

In this process, somehow the wireless network software does not want me to USE WEP. It is either WPA nor noting.

I don;t understand this. If I go into the rooter, I fan force sit to use WEP. But then when a new user wants to log in, I get some dialog about ownership of the router. So I have to enter another code. Then it wants me to set up WPA security.

Now I understand there is a need for security, but what about my FREEDOM of choice? I want my WEP back.

Some other THINGS on my network can only use WEP.
Has this happened to others?
This laptop is running XP
The wireless in this laptop is the Intel PRO Wireless with the Intel software. It is the software that does not want a WEP.The Intel Wireless config utility is a headache... you can use the one that comes bundled with XP:

Could be a record...I always use the utilities that come with the OS. Always found the software bundled with WLAN NIC's to be worthless.

One of the few thing Windows does right straight out of the box; WLAN configuration.
