Answer» I am trying to find a network card for an IBM Network Printer 24. On the back of the printer on the label it says machine type 4324. I've tried looking on Google and most of the time it comes up with HP JetDirects. Will HP Jet Direct cards work in an IBM printer? I was asked to look up cards for this printer to see if it would be feasable to start using it again. (This printer was in our warehouse and if it's cost effective, we'd like to start using it again.)
We would like to hook it up using an ethernet cable.
Thanks for any help I can get!Have you tried contacting IBM?
Alan <>< Yes, I sent them an email yesterday after I posted here. I'm waiting for a reply back. I also found a card that I really think will work and I asked IBM about this as well and am waiting for a reply back. Here is the website: http://www.primelec.com/Shop/Control/Product/fp/SFV/31734/vpid/3105901/vpcsid/0/rid/124330 I HOPE I hear from IBM soon.Good luck and let US know how it turns out.
Alan <>< IBM said that I had contacted the non-technical CUSTOMER service department through the email and said I needed to call their 800 number to talk to a technical person. I didn't want to do that since I'm sure they would try to sell me something. I kept searching and found a card that says it will work with a network printer 24:
If you go to this link and scroll down a little bit the card is displayed. http://www.pcsurplusonline.com/viewprod.cfm?ID=6539
Just thought I'd let you guys know. Cant you just hook it up to a single pc then network all of the to it, so that it sends to that then the printer. No, I can't because this printer will be plugged directly into a wall jack. PLUS, it would be hard to have a pc hooked up to the printer that would be powered on all the time. (Incase I didn't state this before, this printer is going to be used in a corporate environment--not at home.) Thanks for the suggestion, though.Ether way, sorry just suggesting it. Quote On the back of the printer on the label it says machine type 4324 4324 is the "model" number of IBM printer. IBM 24 is the "product" number
wish I had more info as FAR as network setup
