Answer» Assume that you and your friend live 3 miles far from each other. You two cannot use the INTERNET.You two have one computer for each .And you two want to install the wireless network to communicate each other. What is the steps to build a wireless network .The next thing I would like to know is about the wireless access point. What is the function of the wireless access point. How is it installed?Plese, tell me if you can. 3 miles = 5 kilometers What hills and mountains ( ) are between you 2? Do you have to build two towers of 20 meters high to see each other?
If you have "direct visibility" between you than you are interested about wireless antennas with power enhancers - they are called wireless boosters. I have no idea how much they cost but they are not so inexpensive, they cost more than 2x80 USD (euro) for 2 wireless routers.
Why can't you use internet? The function of an access point? It's an antenna, you connect wireless to it (by radio waves), using a communication protocol (802.11 b, g or n - in civilian commerce) and the access point relays further or transforms into a signal for wired communications (acts like a modem). Of course, we could talk about security and other things. How it is installed? You connect a wire to an RJ45 port (if it has; usually it has) or you simply power it up. You will have to make some software adjustments (see the access point/wireless router manual). You connect an ethernet cable to the RJ45 port if you have to add a wireless network part to a wired network. Usually you connect your router to internet through a cable, which is inserted in the WAN port of the router.Thank for your answers Viking.I just really want to know how the wireless access point work.I haven't bought any access point. So I don't have any manual. If I want to use an access point what other thing else I NEED .Am I need to have other wireless devices to use access point. At least how far it's radio waves can GO and in what speed it can go.Please tell me if you could.Thank! You need to read about a tutorial about home wireless networks (I'm not so well prepared, I have to read too).
In your case there is something more than that, you need antenna boosters and these are just not so usual for SMALL networks. You have to ask about high gain antenna - some ISPs use something like this. I will study the subject a little and I will tell you what I find. This can be done but it is a lot of work. And in most cases not cheap. I would suggest you read up on it a little...

This maybe a good place to start.
kta:
What are you really trying to do?
In other words, is wireless networking absolutely necessary? Maybe there is another way to accomplish whatever it is you want to do.
For example, if all you need is to connect and transfer files, chat live, etc., you can do that with a plain old dial-up phone line, and modems on both ends. True, the speed of transfer will not be as fast.
Heck, that's been done for ages. Plain old DOS software will do it. For the most simple connection, Telix would do it. Uncrippled shareware. So the software cost is zero. If you want to download Telix, it can be found >here< Four zip files.
For unattended dial up connections, log ins, transfers, etc., that too can be done with free software. (Ever heard of FidoNet? )
I spoke with some friends.
Results: 2 antennas - http://www.ral.ro/php/produse-32#WL-CA24 (California Amplifier, 24 dB); cost aproximatively 65 USD (almost - the price in your country surely differs). access points with removable antennas (detachable antennas), something like ZyXel Ap 2454 - http://www.ral.ro/php/produse-22#WL-AP-2454 2 pigtail connecting cables with adequate jacks.
I quote (and translate accurately): "The antennas should be placed on pylons, they have to see each other. AP are for in-house use, you have to be cautious when you install them outside (grounding, protect from humidity and direct sun light). You have to align very well the antennas. If you want guaranteed connection (I could not promise that the SOLUTION I just gave will work) then use outside access points Aphelion (price over 500 USD for each).
I hope it helped you to make a decision.
