Answer»

i have a hp PAVILION g6 laptop running windows 7, i am using a usb modem stick for the internet. I have no problem connecting to the internet with the battery but
as soon as i plug in the ac power cord my internet disconnects immediately. Help please Have you tried a different usb port? Check your Advanced power plan SETTINGS for USB suspend, when on battery and plugged in.thanks for your reply jason. It seems to MAKE no difference plugging it into another usb port. What should my advanced power plan setting be set
at ?? Any help would be great. See this link http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/147369-usb-selective-suspend-turn-off.htmlThanks for the link jason very helpful site. Unfortunately even after setting my usb suspend to enable i still can only connect to the net by
battery and not ac power. Still need help with this problem. Does anyone has a solution, please help its very frustrating only being able to connect to the net with battery power. Can anyone advise me how to get my laptop to stay connected to net when using ac power.... Have you tried both methods of inserting your USB modem with the COMPUTER plugged into the power adapter.
1. Plug in the modem prior to turning on the computer (plugged into power source with adapter) /turn on computer.
2.Modem removed from computer USB connection/computer powered by adapter and on/insert USB modem.
Any difference?truenorthThanks truenorth have tried both methods you mentioned and still cant connect using ac powerPlease provide brand and model of "a usb modem stick for the internet." .truenorthDoes it work in other PC's ? ?usb modem stick is vividwireless and no i dont have ACCESS to another computer to try this out. The internet connection works fine but i can only connect when i am using battery power as soon as i plug in power cord for laptop i lose internet connection instantly and can only reconnect when i take ac power cord out of laptopTry removing the battery pack and using only the AC adapter when booting your computer this time and check if there is internet connection from there.
