Solve : Internet connection slow on one PC but no other devices?

Answer»

I have recently moved house and in doing so I have recently changed broadband PROVIDERS. so with me getting a new broadband I connected all of the devices to the internet and started doing a speed test to see if I was getting what I was paying for which I was 50Mbps down and 20Mbps Up. with all this doing good I decided to set-up my pc. when I connect my pc to the broadband I noticed that the internet wasn't running as fast as other devices in fact it was running considerably slower. I thought I might of been a driver outdated so I updated my driver still no improvement. so I reset the hole of my pc HOPING it will help because maybe it was malware on my pc. so with it been all reset with nothing on I thought I would download the drivers again. still no improvement, at this point I'm confused... I thought maybe it was my USB wireless adapter so I bought a PCI on board wireless card. this did not improve it at all. In fact it was the same.

at this point I don't know what else I could do. I will write my PC spec below and hope that someone could help me with my problem.

GPU: GTX 960 4GB
CPU:AMD Ryzen 5 1500x Quad-core
Network adapter:N300 USB Network Adapter
802.11n Wireless LAN CARD
Operating system:Windows 10 Home

Thanks,

Cory

2 - FARBAR Recovery Scan Tool (FRST)

  • Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool (x32) or Farbar Recovery Scan Tool (x64) and save the file to your Desktop.
  • Note: Download and run the version compatible with your system (32 or 64-bit). Download both if you're unsure; only one will run.
  • Double-Click FRST.exe or FRST64.exe to run the programme
  • Click Yes to the disclaimer.
  • Ensure the Addition.txt box is checked.
  • Click the Scan button and let the program run.
  • Upon completion, click OK, then OK on the Addition.txt pop up screen.
  • Two logs (FRST.txt & Addition.txt) will now be open on your Desktop. Copy the contents of both logs and paste them to https://pastebin.com. Post the links here.
3 - Scan_Registry_Run_Keys.bat is a batch file to get informations about your running keys on the registry and to check all your startup items that starts with windows, all running processes with their commands lines, all connections (established and in listening)
  • Startup items
  • Process list
  • Services List
  • Scheduled task list
  • File Hosts's contents
  • All Network connections
  • DNS Cache
So you should, copy and paste this code with your notepad and save it as Scan_Registry_Run_Keys.bat and execute it as administrator to generate a text report that you can join it on the http://pastebin.com and post its link here in your next reply !What happens if you connect the PC with a cable rather than wireless?

Are any of the devices that aren't showing the issue also on WiFi?

What about distance, if you move the PC right next to the router does it work better? What if you run a test on a portable device next to where the computer is, does it get slower speeds now?Quote from: camerongray on May 28, 2017, 07:40:52 PM

I haven't tried with a cable to be honestif I can get away with not having to use a cable that would be great. When I'm next to the router with my PC it improves but not by much. Also when I do a speed test on another device next to my PC I get the same speeds as I'm suppose to do. It's just one PC in the house hold that is slow. • Please download Junkware Removal Tool to your desktop.
  • Shut down your protection software now to avoid potential conflicts.
  • Run the tool by right-mouse click JRT.exe and select "Run as Administrator".
  • The tool will open and start scanning your system.
  • Please be patient as this can take a while to complete depending on your system's specifications.
  • On completion, a log (JRT.txt) is saved to your desktop and will automatically open.
  • Post the contents of JRT.txt into your next message on https://pastebin.com/
Hackoo,
Why do you think it is malware and not some other problem?

Does house moving expose one to malware?
Or do some providers give malware to new users?

EndNOTE. It's important that both files, FRST/FRST64 and fixlist.txt are in the same location or the fix will not work.

NOTICE: This script was written specifically for this user, for use on that particular machine. Running this on another machine may cause damage to your operating system

Run FRST/FRST64 and press the Fix button just once and wait.

If for some reason the tool needs a restart, please make sure you let the system restart normally. After that let the tool complete its run.
When finished FRST will generate a log on the Desktop (Fixlog.txt). Please post it to your next reply.
