Solve : Is using unsecure wifi safe??

Answer»

I just bought a D-Link Range Booster for my PC, and it PICKS up a few unsecure AVAILABLE wifi networks, either from in my apartment building or next door, but is that putting my PRIVACY and security at risk? I have a Firewall and Anti-Virus, but if b...y chance the FREE internet signal was from a hacker, are they able to get into my COMPUTER or find out my passwords when I log into my sites like Facebook, or do online banking? I've heard of keylogging, etc, and that worries me, and I just want to be certain it's safe. I hope someone can answer my question. Thanks =)Unsafe networks means it's open for anyone

However, this might turn into an issue if the owner doesn't want you in their network

It's unlikely this guy would hack your computer, becuase that is a crime

If he want to protect his network, he could add a password, or blacklist the unknown computers connected to it, preventing them to reach anything by this networkIt may be illegal to connect and use someone else's network or internet connection without their permission.I would use it.....
But then I know several ways to secure a computer even on known risky connections.
Your best bet would be to talk to your neighbors that have secured wifi and offer to pay them a few dollars a month for access to their protected internet connection. It is no.
On a unsecure network with Vista or Win7, select "Public." My sister did something bad. She choose Home instead of public.
