Solve : Loss of wireless connection during download?

Answer»

I'm using my university's wireless network. The connection is extremely volatile, going from 54mbps to 1mbps speeds randomly, even when I stay in one spot.

When I start a large FILE download, the speeds will continue to fluctuate WILDLY and usually after about 5-10 minutes, the connection will break (and instantly reset) and the download will fail.

I'm currently running XP and using the microsoft wireless client to connect. I was using Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 2200BG and updated the software and drivers, but that didn't fix the problem.

I don't have access to the router because it's the university connection. And I was able to download without trouble until just recently. ANYONE have any suggestions?Your friends' are having same problems?None that I know of.Quote from: Regal on September 03, 2008, 12:39:25 AM

None that I know of.

We need to know.

If everyone is having the same problem, it is a problem with the University's Wireless.I said none that I know because everyone I know has it working fine for them. Do you want me to poll all 30,000 students or something /kidding

Sorry I wasn't clear. I SEEM to be the only one with the problem so I FIGURE it's something on my end.Borrow wireless card from a friend, and see, if same thing happens.
