Answer» Hi , i got a broadband connection recently for my desktop. My desktop has a Zebronics NF 7050 motherboard and I have Windows Vista Business PROFESSIONAL currently. However i am getting PATHETIC download speeds (of the order of 40-50kbps). Initially i thought that it might be the problem of either the internet connection or the operating system( due to some virus). I had to rule out the possiblity of the isp connection being bad since another laptop connected to the same connection gave much BETTER speeds(of the order of 2 Mbps). Then I tried ruling out the problem of some virus. For this I installed Avira antivirus(free edition) but found no change whatsoever. As a final measure I tried formatting my entire harddisk and reinstalling a different OS. I tried Windows XP SP2 professional as well as Windows Vista Business Professional (did a fresh install 3 times). However, my internet connection is still not responding well. Could it be the problem of the ETHERNET port of the motherboard.Any ADVICE would be greatly appreciated..That's what it sounds like. One thing you can try is "Pinging" a website to see if any packets are dropped. Another thing you can try it pinging your IP or 127.0.0.1.
