Solve : Monitor Blank After Sleep Mode in Windows 7?

Answer»

Hi,

I just installed Windows 7 on a new SATA Hard Drive, and after putting it to sleep, the monitor is blank when I tried to start it up with the power button.

Specs:
Motherboard - Asrock 939 Dual SataII - http://www.asrock.com/mb/overview.asp?Model=939Dual-SATA2&s=Archives
Processor - AMD 64 3800+ (2 Ghz)
RAM - 4 GB
Graphics Card - BFG Geforce 8800 GT Factory Overclocked
PSU - Ultra 650?
Hard Drives
Plugged into SATAII Slot - Seagate Barracuda 1.5 TB
Plugged into SATA slot 1 - Seagate Barracuda 500 GB

This has happened to me a few times on a few different occassions in the past 2 days as I was upgrading, and if I unplug a drive or 2 from the motherboard (not the psu) it sometimes works, and I can see the BIOS popping up on the screen.

I've googled a little bit and the closest thing that makes sense is that the PSU might be getting overloaded.

Any ideas on what the PROBLEM might be?

Thanks!bump

That's my team-mate again, since I was stuck with the problem for a bit.

The problem it turns out is Windows 7 sleep mode isn't WORKING well - every TIME I try it, the monitor no longer shows up - I NEED to turn the pc off using the power switch, unplug hard-drives, turn on-> monitor works, turn off, replug hard drives, turn on -> back to normal.

Any recommendations?BUMPING after 6 hours is unacceptable. General Rule is to wait 24 hours.

I recommend simply not using power management functions on a desktop machine... they never work as desired as you've learned first-hand...Quote

...and there is a serious doubt, they ever will...It's more or less, a hardware thing then a problem with the OS itself- works fine on laptops, but the manufacturers kinda pay attention to the laptops power-saving features... with a desktop it's always on a back-burner, and wether that burner is ever on is another question altogether.
