Answer» i cannot go on the internet ANYMORE without my computer begin directly connected to the router. when it is not connected it cannot find any networks. when i diagnose it with windows networking, it say i do not have a wireless network adapter installed and configured. i have downloaded drivers, rebooted my compuetr and reinstalled windows but nothing is working. could someone please help??
thanksClick START, type Device Manager.......CLICK on Device Manager when you see it in the menu... When Dev. Manager opens, look at where it says "network ADAPTERS"
Click on the "+" sign next to "network adapters" and then right click on the wireless item in the submenu.........Click "properties", look on the "general" tab. What does it say the "Device STATUS" is?
If it says, "This device is working properly", do this next:
Click Start, type Administrative Tools, click on it when you see it in the menu. Click on "services" Maximize the screen and scroll down to where it says "Wireless Zero Configuration", right click on that and make sure the service is running... If it is running already, there will be an option to stop it.. If it is not running, there will be an option to start it.....If it is not running, go ahead and click on "start" to start the service.... Once the service starts again, right click on it again and select "properties", and next to where it says "start up type" make sure it is set to "automatic" and click "apply" and "ok"...
Then try to scan the area again to see if it is picking up your router...
Is this a laptop with a built-in wireless adapter? If so, is there a physical switch on the laptop case or a function key sequence to enable/disable the wireless adapter?Quote from: dahlarbear on August 20, 2009, 07:17:57 PM Is this a laptop with a built-in wireless adapter? Device Manager should be able to tell whether or not it's disabled
