Solve : my computer is answering the landline phone after a couple of rings?? |
|
Answer» Everytime the phone rings and the computer is on it seems to answer the CALL and you can hear the person speaking through the computer. I'm not sure what i have done to cause this and have no idea how to stop it from happening. Any advice? thanks mikeMike: Go to your network connections and disable all incoming connections What? I helped a person in the chat with this exact problem today. When you have a modem connected to your landline Windows will listen and "answer" incoming CALLS. If you have XP go to START > connect to > show all connections and disable or delete the incoming connections.OK -- that makes sense, but you might explain up front that what you are recommending is specifically for modem connections. This may help ease the mind of the original poster.in a similar vein, I could simply say to never use the PC. Also I believe this is also an option in the BIOS; or with the modem driver software. I think you're talking about the option to start the computer remotley.no, I'm talking about TAD, Telephone answering device, not Wake On LAN. the BEST solution is to simply unplug the TAD connector, and disable Telephone answering within the modem drivers properties. a TAD wire should be GOING from the modem to the sound card, or a motherboard header; this is how it is heard. However even with it unplugged the modem will still answer voice calls, unless it is explicitly told not to answer. |
