Answer» okay so i can download frostwire, bitlord, skype, and i can go onto websites likt tinychat, but when i try to download something from frostwire or bitlord it just sits there it wont download, and it says i hvae no connection to the server, and with skype and tinychat, well i can open skype but it says im offline and i cant do ANYTHING, and on tinychat i can go on the website and everything but i cant video chat. also iTunes will not connect to its server etc, but i can go on the internet, infact the only problem i have with the internet is google chrome and that just stopped working one day, its says like 315 error or something on every website. i can use youtube, playlistdotcom, and everything else, i dont get it. also, every other computer in the house works perfectly. i have a Dell Dimension 4600 running Window XP Pro 2004, if it matters, i also have a 1tb external drive and a Linksys wireless g usb network adapter with speedbooster.Quote if it matters, i also have a 1tb external drive and a Linksys wireless g usb network adapter with speedbooster. It does matter. PLEASE explain what speedbooster is and why you use it. Do the other computers use that same configuration? That is to say, a USB wireless with speedbooster running on XP pro? You have a lot of chat, video phone and similar services running. They may cause conflict. EDIT: This quote is from a popular web site. It is with regard to Speedbooster. Quote # Existence of several similar technologies with different branding and incompatible with each other causes massive consumer confusion.i honestly thing speedbooster is just a word they put on the box to make people buy it, i guess its just faster than the regular model, and only one other computer has XP Pro but its connected DIRECTLY to the router. This is what came up when I googled speedbooster. It sounds like a compression technique to speed up wireless transfer speeds. See if you can turn it off and see what happens. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/125_High_Speed_Modehmm i think it is IN the adapter as like HARDWARE, maybe if i tried a different wireless adapter? i think i have one without speedbooster. that page does explain why the speedbooster would be the issue here. okay i FOUND a linksys wireless B. no speed booster. im going to switch it okay so apperantly the other adapter, the one with speedbooster, its instalation software also overwrites the WZC program and deletes it, so now im stuck with a network monitor that only works with a adapter that doesnt work. if that makes any sense. so i cant use the adapter that i found because the network monitor will only work with the other adapter. |
