Answer» Hello.
I use Verizon DSL with a Westell 6100 modem with a USB connection. All of my lights on my modem indicate that I am establishing a proper connection (power, USB, Internet, DSL) but I cannot browse the Internet, sign in to AIM, etc. I am not behind a firewall. I have had the problem since Saturday.
I contacted Verizon TECH Support last night and was on the phone with them for over an hour but alas, they were not much help. The lady finally told me that my LAN is not PROPERLY installed.
I am by no means a computer aficionado, but can anyone offer me any suggestions? Thanks so much.I have Verizon DSL also, and I can tell you right away that the FIRST problem I see is that you called Verizon tech support. It took me almost a month to get initially hooked up to DSL and they blamed my computer for not being able to get connected. It ended up that the problem was on their end and that I was not hooked into the right place at their SWITCHING center. Were you ever able to get connected to Verizon's DSL, cause if you never could, maybe they have you hooked up to the wrong place at their switching center. If you were able to but now you're suddenly not able to maybe something isn't configured right with your NIC card.Did it ever work / if so has Verizon done any updates to their system & you've received a notice from them?
Alan <>< I am having a similar problem. I have verizon dsl with a wireless modem that is hooked to my desktop. I have a Compaq laptop with a wireless network card, that shows it is connected to the network, but I am not able to browse the internet with my laptop. Can someone offer suggestions?
thanksYes, both of you should read up on wireless security or hire a Verizon technician. great ideaAIM, << these instant messgaing programs have always screwed me in the past on the wireless stuff.... i got rid of them... yahoo pal talk webcam stuff aim etc....You could try running the Winsock fix just for GIGGLES. That might help. You can also try spybot or ad aware. However, I would do the Winsock thing first. If you search on Google for it you should find it quickly.
