Answer» Hi last week i had problem with my computer, it kept freezing randomly several time, so I tought that I would format and everything would be fine so I switched to windows 7 and it kept freezing. So i tought I would check up my CPU if the thermal glue was out but when I turned the computer on it was shutting down automaticly, so I went into the bios and found out my cpu was at 82 celcius degree, I GUESSED the fan wasnt properly pinned in the motherboard so I put it back and I used a BIT of STRENGHT to pin it correctly, since then when I open my computer it wont even boot on the bios, like I turn it on, the fans are starting, my led turn open, but nothings happening on the screen, and theres normally a sound when I start my computer but now theres nothing. So i tought I would check up my CPU if the thermal glue was out If you removed the heat sink from the cpu, you need to clean off the old thermal grease with alcohol, thoroughly, from the heat sink and AND cpu, and apply a new LAYER, did you do that? Post the specs. of your computer, also. Make/modelCPU : Inter Core 2 Duo X6850 Motherboard : ASUS P5K-DLX Video Card : ASUS EN8800GTX Memory : 4G KINGSTON HYPERX Powersuply : Enermax Infinity 600w HDrive : 320g Western Digital Soundcard : PCI Creative X-FI Fatal1ty Pro Quote from: EEVIAC on March 06, 2010, 07:02:59 PM If you removed the heat sink from the cpu, you need to clean off the old thermal grease with alcohol, thoroughly, from the heat sink and AND cpu, and apply a new layer, did you do that? No I didn't I just put everything back together 'cause I was afraid I would screw something up Quote from: Yewt on March 06, 2010, 07:10:31 PM No I didn't You'll need to go buy yourself some thermal paste/grease (order off the internet if necessary) and follow standard PROCEDURE for applying it. Because you removed the heat sink from the cpu and simply replaced it without adding a fresh layer, heat transfer from your cpu to the heat sink is not optimized and your cpu is probably over heating at this point, because of that.. This will get you in the right direction: http://www.techpowerup.com/forums/showthread.php?t=6630Thanks but even if my cpu is overheating shouldn't I be at least able to go into the bios and see his temperature? Not necessarily.. |
