I just fried my hard drive and it was REPLACED with a new 1. I can not get onto the internet as i was expecting this to happen but i dont no what to do. We have netgear and i dont no if there is a cd my computer should be installing OR do i need to tell the main computer to reconise my computer. If i need to tell the main computer to reconise my computer how do I do that?

On my old hard drive neatgear softwear was installed. So when i put the disk in i GOTO router set up and it wont set up. It says :

Check that the lights on the front are green

check the cable that connects the modem/router/gateway to the computer is securely inserted both at the modem/router/gateway end and the computer end.

Im pretty sure my alienware has an ethernet or at least it did before the new hard drive was put in. Im not even sure what an ethernet is but all other computers r connected. PLEASE guide me threw this. Sorry for being so vague but im not sure what i am talking aboutQuote

How physically damaged your HD went? How about the mobo? Did you installed successfully the new OS(What OS)? Chipset,Sound,Audio drivers? What network card are you using?

So the mobo was replaced because it was fried as the tech.guy mention. Is this along with the Hard drive you mention or on another incident?

yes the mobo was replaced last year and the hard drive was just replaced.
