Solve : network disconnected randomly?

Answer»

When I was browsing any web site for a few minutes, and then the network connection icon in the Taskbar disappeared....I tried to reconnect to the internet, but it just disconnected again.
I don't know why this's happened.
Could somebody help please?

P.S. I am not using a router.More details please..

How are you connected to the internet?
Is it a wired or wireless connection?
What version of windows are you using?

Is your network icon simply disappearing or is it changing to a no connection icon? Quote from: Deerpark on October 20, 2007, 07:20:22 AM

MY ISP provided a CD which contains a software for network connection for XP user.
I installed the software and each TIME before I can connect to the internet, I have to enter the ISP name and the password.

Now that I can't see any network connection icons when I open network connection in the Control Panel , still I can browse any web site as usual. It 's WEIRD!
Is it a sign that there are some system files which have corrupted, Deerpark?
How do I repair them?
Do I have to reinstall the OS or else?
Please kindly help!

P.S. I am not using any wireless connection. This sounds very strange.
Are your computer connected directly to the modem?
If yes, is it an USB modem or is it connected to a network card? Quote from: Deerpark on October 21, 2007, 09:23:16 AM

I think it should be an onboard network card:
VIA Rhine II Fast Ethernet Adapter 3.44.0.429.
And I wanna have the latest driver for this network card, but don't
know how to do it.Is the network card showing up in the device manager?
It should be located under "network adapters".

Yes, I can see it in the Device Manager with no strange symbol, no yellow exclamation mark or red cross...looks like there is nothing wrong with the driver for the network card...
I feel like crying...looks like the unknown problem can't be solved at all...
I can't find out what's caused the problem... Quote

I've never heard about such a THING. What is it? DSL? Who is your ISP?
