Solve : network keeps disconnecting?

Answer»

I have a wireless router (Belkin) and a wireless laptop card (Linksys). The internet just disconnects randomly, and then when it does, I cant even reconnect as that wireless connection no longer shows up in my list of available networks. I can only reconnect if I go to my modem and router, turn off the power and then turn them back on abo9ut 19 seconds later; somehow the network is FOUND again.

Why does this happen and how can I prevent the network disconnections> My router and modem is on the 2nd floor while my laptop is on the 1st

The OS is WinXP This is probably a PROBLEM with your router, have you downloaded the latest firmware for it?i checked if they had an update for the firmware. There is no update

It may be a problem with your line, when you get disconnected from your router does the 'internet' light go out on your router. If it does ring up your ISP, explain the problem and ask if they can run a line test.My friend has a similar problem. His connection OFTEN disconnects with no warning, and goes on and off. It really ruins our gaming! He recently FIGURED out that this only happens when his father's laptop is currently running though. Is there any advise you guys can give to help figure out this dilemma?I have noticed though that the internet connection only drops when I start using P2p (I uses ARES)

Why does this happen?
i have a belkin router and a Linksys card. Do you think maybe its the brand difference that might be causing these frequent wireless disconnects? Just to reiterate, these disconnects happen only when a P2P application like Vuze (used to be CALLED Azureus) is running.

Do you think I should get a Linksys router to match my card or do you think I should get a Belkin wireless card to match my router? That is, if you think, this will fix the problem
