i have a DSL connection in my PC and i wanna share it with my friend so right now i have 2 LAN cards i bought a Cross cable in my own computer which i have DSL it shows local Area Network is connected 100 MB but the anther computer is showing Local Area Network is unplug

How far apart are the computers?

what os are you running on both machines?

i have OS Xp in Both and i think its 30 miter far both are P3 DeLL as i said before in one side which i have DSL showing it's connected but to anther side it SAYS LAN Unplug
What firewall are both computers using?
Are you sure that you're using a croscable?.
Do you want to share folders or what do you want to do?

Jonas Yes i'm sure that it's CrosCable and firewall is windows default i didn't install any other firewall, i have Two LAN Cards in 1st i insert the Cable of DSL 2nd i insert the cross cable
i want to share files as well as Internet is there anyone to identify my problem ?
if yes please i'm waiting for your repliesIts an odd problem and I can't realy identify your problem but I'll give it a try.
It might be the firewall that is blokking your connection.
Go to control panel (make sure your in category view) -> security settings -> windows firewall ->


Do this on all the computers of your network and make sure they are in the same workgroup.
Let me know if this works.

Jonas Thank you Jonas for Reply and it didn't work at all i've already done all these firewall settings
now i bought a Switch BayLan 8 ports now both computers are connected to switch
i can use internet but i can't access the other computer in my workgroup actually it is not appearing only i can see my own computer that is all every computer shows its own name in workgourp i've changed the cable connecters too still didn't work so what do you say now

Let me guess you had to enable network detection wright?

Jonas NO i didnt Enable anything i only Disable firewall protection from all workstations then it starts to share everything

Now everyone who know your IP can enter your computer!!!
Make share you enable network detection or network share that depends on how they explain it in your firewall.
But you need to have a firewall you really do.

Dload and install http://www.pctools.com/firewall/
Go to advanced rules go to trusted zones and allow printer and file sharing.
If it doesn't work you can allow printer and file sharing in the Internet zones but normally that won't be necessary.
