Solve : One laptop works and one does not?

Answer»

Hi guys, I just purchased 2 Dell Inspiron 15 laptops. I got a new BELKIN N router and set it up last night. I hooked it all up and then CONNECTED laptop 1 to the internet through it, worked fine. I then connected laptop 2 to it, it also worked fine. Now laptop 1 will not connect to the network. Laptop 2 works great but when I try to connect laptop 1 it says it is connected to an UNKNOWN network and I have no internet connection. I am using Windows 7. Thanks in advance.

JPit sounds like the NLA (Network Location Awareness) is having issues with your network. You could try running a ipconfig /all to see if you have the network information (ip address, default gateway, DNS suffix). try running a release and renew:

IPCONFIG /RELEASE
IPCONFIG /RENEW

and see if this solves your issue.

Have you reset the router (unplug it for 15-30 seconds and then plug it back in)?I RAN a release and renew as described by wbrost and it works perfectly now. Thanks for the replies fellas.
