Answer» I'm trying to use Remote Desktop between two LAPTOPS, and I can't connect them... I've tried the cmd "net view" on both, and they're both only finding themselves, despite there being about 5 other computers in the house. Any ideas? What OS? Have you added Remote Desktop to Firewall Exception List or tried with firewalls off to see if you can connect without firewalls to point the finger at firewall setting? Both also have to be same domain such as workgroup.
Also just a FYI on RDP... when you connect to one from the other, the user on the other is LOCKED out of the computer while you are connected. If you want to control either laptop remotely without locking a session in the process, I'd check into RealVNC.
Here is link on setting it up if your Windows 7 and still want RDP vs VNC: http://www.addictivetips.com/windows-tips/using-remote-desktop-connection-in-windows-7/I want to access a Windows 7 computer from a Vista one. I've turned firewalls off on both... How do I go about getting on the same domain? I don't fully UNDERSTAND what that means, but they're both on my home network, so I assume it should work :/ Thanks Also, I'm trying to use the laptop's IP address to FIND it, 192.168.1.8 - anything I did wrong there? I assume it's more in this Workgroup thing
