Solve : password problem on home network? |
|
Answer» I have two pcs that I connected together. One runs windows XP SP2 and the other windows 2000 sp4. I can EASILY browse files on the XP computer from the w2k computer, but when I try to look at files on the w2k computer from the xp computer, I get a "user name" and "Password" dialog box. I did not arrange for any password when I used the windows network SETUP wizard. How do I get the pesky thing out of the way? Did you perhaps set the Windows 2000 OS to function on 'share-level security'? Go over the shared FOLDER settings and make sure they're set like the XP machine. On XP machine you allow the guest user to access your computer from the network (Administrative Tools -> Local Security Policy -> User rights assignment --- there you don't have the "guest" user listed at "Deny access at this computer from the network"). My guess... |
