Solve : problem setting up a static ip? |
|
Answer» Hey guys. i am new to this whole networking thing. I am trying to set up a static IP in order to do port forwarding. IVE read a number of guides and none of them have worked. I have a WRT54G router and vista. So i found out my IP, Subnet, Gateway and DNS. I WENT into my network properties and went into tcp/ipv4. i entered in all the information i got from USING ipconfig/all . The internet WORKS, everything is cool. I got to my web based router settings i try to change my connection TYPE to Static IP. I enter in all my info and i get a message that says "LAN IP same with WAN IP". what is a wan ip, why do i need it, and what can i do about all this? also my ip address is 192.168.2.122 is that 2 in the third position wierd? |
