Solve : Problem with connecting to certain network!!!?

Answer»

I am now running OpenSUSE 11.4 on my HP laptop, but I am experiencing a weird problem with trying to connect to the NETWORK at my school. There is another network in the school that I AM able to connect to perfectly, but the main one that I want to connect to that covers the whole school is what I am having problems with. When I try connecting to it, the network monitor icon at the TOP of my desktop shows that I am connected to it and I even get a notification that I established a connection to this network. The problem is that when I open up firefox I am unable to even load in the login page for the wireless network which I need to do to use the network. I asked a friend at school already what the problem might be and he told me that it might be something in my configuration that is causing this. Thank you all for the help Major advances wee made to the Sue distro this year. If that has any impact on wireless connectivity is uncertain. I have not played with Suze for a long time.

The only suggestion I have is to use the divide and conquer approach. You get a Live CD of another distro and see if it works. If so, you know is an issue with the Suze. But it not, it is a configuration problem you need to resolve.

Here is the link for the current ISO of LINUX Mint.

I am not saying replace Suze. Just test another distro ans a diagnostic tool.
Just run it in the 'Live' mode, no need to put it on the hard drive.
Thank you for your reply, geek-9pm. That would make sense if that is the case, but I am able to connect to any other network, but just not this one for some reason I am unaware of. I already have a live CD of debian I can use, but I'll probably try the linux mint one just for the heck of it because I've never used it before and it would be PART of the divide and conquer approach that you mentioned. I'll notify you on here with any updates or anything that I COME across with.Quote from: timtim41 on October 17, 2011, 11:50:41 AM

Is a private IP address assigned to your laptop? I'm thinking it might be a DNS resolution error-try using the Google DNS Servers:
