Solve : Problems figuring out bios? |

Answer» I have a Acer Aspire T690 running Windows Vista and purchased a Ati Radeon HD 3650 512mb graphics card and followed the instructions to install to a T and when i restarted with monitor connected to new card it was blank w/no signal. Contacted company and they informed me that i need to change my Bios from on-board to pci-e the problem i have no idea in Acer bios what to change it all Latin to me. can anyone tell me step by step how to change onboard to pci-e in bios....tyDisable on-board (integrated) graphics adapter. Acers generally have not had very friendly full-featured bios's...hoping yours even has the option to disable it. I have seen a few that have the option greyed out...unable to be shut off on the lower end models, but this is true for many lower end models not just acer.if this helps any my bios reads: Phoenix-AwardBios/Cmos and the menu is this: -Advanced BIOS Features More likely to be under these 3 than the others. EDIT : PS you didn't write all of those out did you?!?! The sub menu for that is: -Auto* -PEG Port -OnChip VGA and ya hehe don't worry it got you there in the end Quote PEG Port set it to PEG port, save changes and restart, turn the computer off, install your PCI-e card and turn the computer back on also, does the card need extra power?oh no now i have a bigger problem i did just that and it didnt work and now i cant see anything to turn my onboard back on.....help please Lovely Remove the card and it should boot to onboard. if it doesn't then you will need to find the little battery on the motherboard, switch the PSU off at the back. Remove the battery and try to turn the computer on (of course it wont start, it is turned off ) But it will purge any traces of power. Place the battery back in and then turn it back on and start the machine. Try to do a f2 and when it boots into the bios find where it says pci components or graphics or maybe graphics accelerator change that to pci and see what happens. Thank you , Adam [Removed. Do not advertise on our forum]Thank God, thouhgt my wife was gonna kill me...lol ok anymore ideas?? did exactly what i was told and there still was no picture and as far as xtra power goes this card has no plug for xtra power and i was told my computer had ENOUGH for it ty btwty adam but if u read above i have listed all option in bios and most sub options Do you have more than 1 PCI-e Slot? If it isn't in the top most one I dont think it will work.i have 2 smaller white slots 1 with old modem in it and then 1 larger orange slot above those with a latch that is the 1 i am putting the Visiontek Ati Radeon 3650 512mb game card in |
