Answer» Okay, here goes. Some basic info: My wife and I have our COMPUTERS networked by Etherner cables through a Linksys WRT54G router. I am running Win XP Pro and my Wife is using Win 7 Home. I have a PCI network card and my wife has an onboard network adapter. Our printer is connected to my computer. We also shared an external HD, (NAS), but I will be replacing it with a new one. We also USE Networks Magic Essentials vs. 5.5.9195. We have had no problems until the past couple of months. The NAS software started indicating there was a network CONNECTION problem with my wife's computer. I also could not access her files on the NAS as I previously could.
These are the weird problems I am having with my wife's Win 7 computer. The Event Mgr gives an WARNING every time the computer in started up, "Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller is disconnected from network". When I check the map of the network it shows her computer, a big ?, the router and internet. At the bottom of the page there is an icon for my computer with it's name stating that it cannot be placed in the map. The Device Manager shows the card is working and the drivers have been updated.
We can access each others files through Windows Explorer and Network Magic which I could live with, but I want to connect the new NAS and I want to resolve the network problem. She also has no problems printing on the printer connected to my computer. I am at the brink of wiping the drive and reloading Windows, but only as a last resort. I have posted the results of the ipconfig below, which is mostly Greek to me. Thought it my shed some light. I am welcoming all help I can get. I appreciate everyone here and thank you in advance.
Thanks. Windows IP Configuration

Quote external HD, (NAS)
seems to be the cause.
Can you provide details about this NAS Hard drive? These devices are still rather new for home use and may present a problem as they go through puberty.
QuoteNetwork-attached storage (NAS) is file-level computer data storage connected to a computer network providing data access to heterogeneous clients. As of 2010[update] NAS devices are gaining popularity, as a convenient method of sharing files among multiple computers.[1] Potential benefits of network-attached storage, compared to file servers, include faster data access, easier administration, and simple configuration. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Network-attached_storage
If you are going to replace it, you may want to read this: CNET's roundup of top-rated storage devicesThanks for responding. Actually I already have the drive, just not INSTALLED yet. It is a WD My Book Live, 2 tb,Ethernet Home Network Drive. The previous one was the same except it was 1 tb. I haven't had it connected for awhile now and I have removed all of the software with Revo Uninstaller. I still receive the same warning message in the Event Manager regarding the controller not being connected to the network. Is it possible to have more than one network profile?
