Answer» Hi, My workmate uses Windows XP on a Dell Opliplex GX260 machine. She recently formatted her computer so, some DRIVERS went missing. We tried to reinstall the network driver - Intel(R) PRO/1000MT Network Connection. It failed to work and at Device Manager, the icon next to the driver SHOWED a red cross on the adapter. We tried to enable it and update it - at least the red cross disappeared but we couldn't get an internet connection. We tried to uninstall it but it showed the message 'Failed to uninstall' We then deleted the dell folder where the driver resides but when the com was restarted, the driver was stilll there. We have tried to reinstall the driver again & again and now there is a 10th instance of the driver(I think) bse 'Device Manager' shows Intel(R) PRO/1000MT Network Connection #10. What is the cause of this problem? How I can get the driver to work?Make sure you are using the latest driver.... http://downloadcenter.intel.com/detail_desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=4275
and that you CLEAR out all the failed installs of the driver before you install this one. Than check to be sure your network card is set to 100 BaseT and not a gigabit.
You can also check over the known issues for this card.
