Solve : PS3 Connection Issue - Concerning Router?

Answer»

I have an issue with connecting my PS3 online. We have 2 computers, both running off the same wired router, one downstairs and one upstairs. My PS3 is upstairs in my bedroom.

Basically, we WANT a wireless router but we don't want to affect the current connection. Is there any way of having a wireless router which my ps3 can connect to without taking out the wired router thus affecting my dads upstairs computer?

Thanks in advance.

By the way, my wired router is a Netgear Cable/DSL Web Safe Router Gateway RP614v2.You can buy a Wireless Access Point and connect it to your Router. Quote from: Raptor on April 28, 2007, 10:41:32 AM

Thanks for the quick response.

Is a wireless access point the same as a router. Also, would this affect the computer upstairs?

Thanks in advance. No, it is a SORT of extension that ALLOWS you to make a wired router wireless. I think it plugs in to one of the wired PORTS.

Example of WAPs.I have the exact same problem.
I have a verry LOW connection and most of the time it is to low to connect but when I'm connected and I start to play online My PS3 stays connected.
How is this possible?
Will I be able to connect everytime if I buy a wirless router?
Normally it should be but I want to be shure.
And our network is protected by linksys then I will have to accep this new router don't I?
