Solve : Pulling in Neighbor Wifi? |
|
Answer» I bought a Outside Wifi Antenna off of Ebay. It has a 14db gain on it. I put it up in the attic as I couldn't easily mount it outside. It is about 25 ft in the air. I am running down from the antenna RG58 into a SMA connector to the WIRLESS card. I am only picking up my own wireless router ! There are NUMEROUS wireless routers in my neighborhood. Is there something that I need to set or disable on my computer...? Suggestions are welcome, please..... Why would you need to access the neighbours WiFi? Well I am using that as a barometer as to how well my WIfi antenna is working. I am extending the distance of my Wifi signal...If I can't recieve anyone, than it tell me that my signal is not going anywhere.... Do you understand 802.11 is Super high frequency stuff? It is NOT CB BAND! Is your house made of glass? What kind of roofing do you have? Shingles even stop VHF signals. Outdoor antenna goes outdoor. Using recommended cable.Quote from: Geek-9pm on October 14, 2009, 01:26:16 PM 1, RG58 ?1. RG58 is 50 ohms 2. WiFi antenna is 50 ohms 3. Irrelevant to impedance matching. 4. Only a metal roof will block VHF. 5. Antennas in the attic is nothing new, been done successfully for over 50 years. Quote 5.
