Solve : Remote Login to Home PC from Work?

Answer»

Hello everyone. This is my first time posting and I tried searching for the answer first, but no success.

My question is:

Is there anyway to SETUP a VNC Server (or some other type of remote log in server) on my home PC that I could access from work USING Remote Desktop Connection?

This might be a STRANGE question, but the reason I ask is because my home PC is Windows XP Home which does not allow me to log into it with Remote Desktop Connection and my work is pretty strict about not letting me download software that they have not authorized so I can't download a VNC client. My only client option would be RDC since it came on my work PC

I appreciate the help!As far as I know you can't connect to anything but a remote desktop server with the remote desktop client. You CERTAINLY can't use VNC.

But wait a bit... maybe someone knows different.I don't know what you are trying to do, but if you only need some files from home, you can download and access them if you have OnLine backup. Online backup seem to be a good way of going for many reasons, although it's pretty new to me.
BertUsing Remote Desktop Connection with VNC is not possible, sorry.

If your (I presume) workplace allows you to have Internet, I would check out www.logmein.com . I have been using LogMeIn for quite a while flawlessly.
