Solve : Router connection issues?

Answer»

I recently purchased a D-Link DSL 2540B router. I installed it and connected to its' IP address and followed the WIZARD. The DSL, LAN, and Internet lights on the router were lit but I am UNABLE to connect to the internet. I ran the diagnostics and failed two of the ping-related tests. I have followed the troubleshooting suggestions but I still can't connect to the internet. Can anyone point me in the right direction? You'll have to be a lot more specific on details...like:

Operating system / does it connect directly to the modem without the router / disabled the firewall in windows?

Alan <>< Turn your DSL modem off...or UNPLUG it.

Turn your router off...or unplug it.

Wait 30 seconds...turn your router back on and let it cycle to make sure it is working properly.

When you're sure the router is functioning normally...turn on your modem...

After the modem cycles...refresh your browser to see if you have a web page.
