Solve : Seagate External 4TB NAS?

Answer»

OK, Just got this to expand my music collection and there's an issue that I can't find the answer anywhere. Hopefully someone here has it already figured out. I started copying my music over to the new 4TB and a couple of days later while checking on the progress, I noticed that it DOWNLOADED the album art for most of my collection automatically. I went through all the trouble to remove this info and it put it back without warning. I’m sure there’s a setting somewhere but I can’t find it. Thanks in advance.

I have a Netgear NAS and never seen a NAS before seek for album cover art. This had to come from one of the systems that ATTACHES to the NAS. In addition to this, on my NAS it uses the XFS File System. I have never worked with a Seagate NAS, but most NAS out there are using LINUX file systems. XFS on its own would not seek album cover art.

The only time I have ever had anything carry over like this, was when I had a routine that backed up to this NAS and the information was altered on the local machine and passed over to my NAS.

You might be DEALING with the program that PLAYS the music that is populating the album art, such as iTunes etc. What player are you using? What Music Playback/management software are you using?I solely use Windows Media Player for all my music and it's been intact without Album Art on my 2TB Seagate GoFlex for almost 2 years now. It happened when I started copying my music over to the 4TB Seagate Central Drive. I guess I'll have to wait until Monday and call them direct and find out the problem.
