Solve : Setting up wireless connection?

Answer»

I am planning on buying a wireless router with 5 ports, I have a modem and a broadband D-Link, the D-Link is FULL, and I got a laptop, which need a connection, so I am buying a wireless router, but I am not sure how to connect it. I am also
buying a network switch. I don't KNOW how to connect all the stuff. So the modem goes into the broadband D-Link and
then the network switch then into the wireless router right ? anyone know which port it goes to? Why the switch? Why did you buy it? Why not just replace your older router with the new, wireless one? That's all that's needed here.but I don't want to, my bro is mad at me, and plus it is going to be very expensive, the wireless router and network switch total is = $60, if I buy a wireless router with many ports it would cost alot,In your original POST, you clearly indicated you were buying or have BOUGHT a wireless router:

So, let's get this clear. Do have a wireless router or not? If not, why the comments in your original post? never mind, you don't know it anyway.Uh ..., you don't know whether I know "it" or not. You still haven't clarified some facts.

My impression is you had a wired, 4-port router before getting the laptop. Now, with the laptop, which you want to connect via wireless connection, requires a wireless router. But, a wireless router with 4 wired ports can be obtained for $60 or less. That would be sufficient for 4 wired computers and a wireless laptop. So, again:

Tommy, you have a switch or do you intend to buy one?
You are sure you will buy a wireless router? If you will connect the laptop through a network CABLE a switch will be enough to "enhance" your home network (to give you n-2 more ports to connect cables; n = number of ports on the switch).Aw thanksAnd the answer is...?
