Solve : Sharing a 32-bit printer via wireless home network?

Answer»

I recently upgraded to Windows 7 64-bit OS. Now the 32-bit printer, Epson Stylus Photo 960, has no driver for 64-bit (thanks Epson!) In the past, my Windows XP TOWER PC was hosting this printer and sharing with a Win98 PC, a WinXP Laptop, and a Vista Laptop. Can I make this printer a wireless device on my home network and make it available to all OS platforms? How? Thanks for any help.No. Making it wireless isn't going to solve your problem of not having drivers for win7. drivenbywhat is correct.

64-bit Windows cannot use 32-bit print drivers. It can store them, but this is specifically for 32-bit Windows PCs that will connect to a shared printer hosted on a 64-bit OS. VICE versa applies as well (at least with Vista, Windows 7, Server 2003, and Server 2008): a 32-bit PC hosting a shared printer can store 64-bit drivers to INSTALL to 64-bit PCs connecting to that share.

So, all in all, until a 64-bit print driver is written for this printer (which doesn't seem likely to happen), you're kind of SOL on this one...Thanks all for reading my post and sharing your knowledge and advice. I sorta thought it couldn't be done but was hoping there could be AWAY AROUND. Oh well . . .Check and see what printer drivers on built-in for your 64 bit OS.
Some printers can run in emulation mode
Or check and see if the printer can be used with Post Script.
Either way, it would reduce the features of the printer.

EDIT [foot in mouth]Duh.. I am very wrong.[/foot in mouth]
