i'm trying to get my friend's laptop to connect to the internet through my desktop, which is connected wirelessly. i've ALLOWED the connection SHARING from one of my lan ports, but when i do that, i can't access the internet on my computer.  what am i doing wrong? thanks in advance.1.  What is the "physical" configuration:
     a.  Desktop is connected wirelessly to what?  A wireless access point or wireless home router in same building?  Or wirelessly to the "ether"?

     b.  Laptop is connected to desktop via wire or wirelessly?

2.  What operating systems (and service pack levels) are you using?
     a.  Desktop

     b.  Laptop

3.  Are you using Windows "Internet Connection Sharing" functionality (hosted on the desktop)?

4.  From a command prompt window, look at the OUTPUT from "route print".  Look for differences between when you can and cannot access the internet.  Don't post that info (keep your public IP address to yourself), but we may have to COME back to that. Are you connecting his laptop to your only NIC?

To use ICS(Internet Connection Sharing) you NEED a seperate NIC for each machine.
