We have a Linksys wireless router, so I am able to get on the internet WIRELESSLY. However, I am TRYING to access files from the server with the laptop. I have no idea where to begin....help please Does the server use FTP (file transfer protocol)? i'm very new at this stuff, so please bear with me...... Okay. So you know your IP? If so, go the Run > "cmd" > type ping <ip address>. Do you get a response?yes, i get a response (cool!). and i guess the IP address from showipaddress.com is the correct one!oh, and the response is the "ping statistics" etc.Does the server support FTP or have it configured?i want to the Internet Properties under Advanced tab and "Enable folder view for FTP SITES" is checked. Is this what you mean? Quote from: tljolley on October 09, 2008, 01:37:23 PM i want to the Internet Properties under Advanced tab and "Enable folder view for FTP sites" is checked. Is it Windows Server 2000?dell poweredge 1600scFrom what I can gather in a search, it does have FTP support... Give me a few minutes to figure out how to set it up... I'm sorry, but I wasn't able to find anything... Maybe someone else can help you from here, but I have no more ideas... Good luck anyway. |
