Solve : showing internet speed?

Answer»

Hi People,
I used to use a USB modem to access the NET and this showed a "Monitor" icon in the bottom r/h corner of my desktop. If I right clicked on that I was able to see how fast my connection was (whether that was a true figure is debatable). However, since installing a Siemens SE587 wireless router some while ago I have no "Monitor" icon. I just wondered if there was a way for me to show/check speed like I could before.

THANK you.

Graham. If you want to check the speed once a while then you could use the free online service from the following site as well.
http://www.speedtest.net/

CheersIf you are using XP or Vista,

Right click on the TASKBAR, click Properties, Notification Area (tab), and Customize.

Here you can change which icons it shows. Thanks to everyone for their help,
I used Broni's suggestion. Job done .

Cheeers,

Graham.Cool If your looking for your true internet connect speed i RECOMMEND http://speakeasy.net/speedtest/
as far as your Network connection in the taskbar area...

  • open control panel
  • open network connections
  • right click your connection icon
  • choose properties
  • place check in box next to "show icon in notification area when connected"
