Or is yours an access point in an apartment?access point in my apartmentdo you think i need a BETTER wireless card?Your wireless card is probably not the problem, since your getting Wifi from your apartment, the actual connection splits into multiple access point around your apartment which means that the bandwidth(amount of data sent through in a certain amount of time). That in turn means that there may be other users of that same connection.

This is common of Apartment Wifi Connections, if you wanted a faster internet connection you could try Satellite, Cable, or DSL depending upon if your Apartment management allows it.I live on a house so no problem there but I already have a cable connection which I pick up through wifi.
