Solve : Slow net??

Answer»

I did a Dell PC restore back to shop standard, started instlaling all PROGRAMMES I had on before (TVersity, BitTorrent, MSN Messenger etc) they all seemed to work fluently but when I started download again through BitTorrent, I have terribly slow CONNECTION when when downloading files from fileshare which are 100MB big and only a .rar file type and thats taking ages. Even before when my pc was full of junk, I had MUCH quicker net connection and download rate. Any advice on how to improve it? Thanks. What type of connection do you have?
What's your ISP advertised speed? What are the numbers from here: http://www.speedtest.net/I think where on TalkTalk broadband, as for advertised speed, I'm not sure, I could find out. This is the numbers I got from speedtest.net. Thanks

According to this: http://www.macbroadband.co.uk/apple-mac-adsl/talk-talk, your advertised speed is 8Mbps, so your test readings are ridiculous.
I'd call your ISP right away.is there a router in your setup?Good Morning,

Your speed test definity shows that you Internet connection is slow. Remember that just because your connectivity can handle 100mb does mean it will download at that speed. If the server is real busy your downloading performance will decrease.Quote

Speedtest will never show such a ridiculous difference. We have wireless I think, normally the only things that are running constantly is my PC upstairs and a PC in the conservatory which is my parents business COMPUTER but nothing part from mine downloads, I occasionally use the net for xbox live or for a quick search on my Archos 5 PMP when I can't be booting PC up. We have ethernet adaptor plugged in from power socket to the most applications (2 PCs) the rest have wireless adaptors.

Could nayone shed anymore light on the situation? Quote

BITTORRENT ---

Always set the speed in the speed test menu to a speed below what your connection can source it seems to work better and piratesbay seems to have the best torrent speeds. also always click on seeds to sort and order torrent CHOOSE the torrent with the most seeds where possable. i have a 360KPS connection but only get as high as 160KPS usually only 100MPS. some internet provider recognise torrent and slow the line speed to them mine does. but if i SURF the internet a bit just reading stuff nothing data intensive the torrent rocket to full speed if i don't surf the speeds like 16KPS. but once it at top speed i just leave it and it never stops.
