Answer» hi hope you can help as am baffled I recently tried to change the ssid name on my wireless network, but couldn't connect to it under its new name so DECIDED to change it back to its ORIGINAL name. But when i tried to reconnect to the network it wouldn't connect,I have another laptop which I use which is working perfectly. So i figure its not the router,I tried a system restore but that didn't work so I figure its not the windows files... Am using windows VISTA on the laptop that won't work and xp on the one that does....tried all the simple stuff like re-entering the ssid and network key over and over and also resetting the router, but with no results . I would appreciate any help...!
PS should also mention that my laptop picks up the broadcast signal but can't seem to identify the network ,even though I have entered the correct ssid and network keys and set the encryptions to the correct SETTINGS.....It is not clear why you want to do and if you have the authority to do it.
Does you laptop have an Ethernet jack on it? If so, try getting into the router directly. And unplug everything else from the router. Power up the router, reset the laptop. Now you can get into the router and change what you want. Use the numeric IP of the router. And he user and password you created earlier. Or the default password.I tried to reset it using the RJ cable connection and going into the router still doesn't work.....
