Solve : Surprisingly enough not connecting to internet?

Answer»

I am usng winxp home edition.
A week ago i installed drivers for a different broadband modem using USB cable which worked fine as LONG as i used it, but it messed up anything that was connecting a network or internet. Now using rj45 connection for any other lan or wireless it connects to network fine but it DOESNT pass any information or data, so I cant access the internet or even cant share the information between computers. I know this as I can get into control panel of modem wirelessly (i.e.192.168.1.1) and make changes
Someone please help, as I think after my last usb installation it is still waiting for a connection via usb only(as this works fine )
do i need to update the drivers for LAN card and wireless card, as when i connected to lan using usb it MUST have overwritten.
A few questions:
1-How many PC on the network?
2-can u reach the router thru only one PC or can they all reach the router?

also u state: A week ago i installed drivers for a different broadband modem using USB cable which worked fine as long as i used it.
Was the modem exchanged? Quote from: ashtheman on August 17, 2009, 12:28:49 PM

Why would you install a DRIVER for a different modem than you are using?  I have a hunch that is your problem, remove it. Quote from: midsail on August 20, 2009, 08:01:43 PM

are you saying that you can connect when you plug a network cable straight from the modem to the network card or peer-to-peer, but when you plug it to a router and you try to access the network or internet through the router from a computer plugged into the router you cannot connect?
