Solve : Switcher connection??

Answer»

I have seen a LAN setup by cable the ADSL modem connected to a computer and the 10port switcher is connected to this computer by network card (NIC). Can anyone tell me why you WOULD do this instead of connecting the modem directly to the switcher? What do you mean?

Are you talking about a switch?

Yes sorry it is 10 port switch not as I said switcher.

Are you asking why you have to plug the cable from your modem into your computer? And what you want to do is to plug it into the 10 port switch?

Not asking why I have to. Someone has already done that what I am asking why is not PLUGGED directly into the switch The switch is not made to handle network services like DHCP or DNS.....

Your computer can handle this when connected to your modem. What most people do is to buy a router. You then plug the modem into the router and your computer into the back of the router. The back area of the router is a switch. The front area of the router is made to get the SETTINGS from your modem and pass them to the switch.
