Solve : Telnet server error 1058?

Answer»

I'm trying to run/experiment with a telnet server, but when I type
net start telnet
it says
Code: [Select]SYSTEM error 1058 has occurred.

The service cannot be started, either because it is disabled or because it has no enabled devices associated with it.

I'm pretty sure that I have enabled it, I've included a screenshot.

Do I need to enable telnet some other way, or do I need to enable/associate a device, and if so how can I do this.

[recovering disk space, attachment deleted by admin]Usually because the service is not turned on.

To enable the Telnet service
Start the Services Microsoft Management Console (MMC) snap-in. To do so, click Start, then in the Start Search box, type services.msc.
Right-click Telnet, and then click Properties.
In the Startup type LIST, select one of the FOLLOWING:
Automatic to start Telnet Server when Windows starts

Manual to allow Telnet Server to be started and stopped when needed

You can start the service by CLICKING Start.
Click OK to close the Telnet Properties page.
Close the Services snap-in.Thanks, that was the solution I ended up coming to. The thing is that net start telnet then simply states that the service is already running, which suggests an interesting system, but I SET it to start automatically, which is good. Thanks againNot a problem, glad to help.
