Solve the equation 2 (x – 2) + 3 (4x – 1) = 0. Check your result.

Answer»

The above question can be written as,= 2x – 4 + 12x – 3 = 0

Now, find the value of x by considering the above equation,

= 2x + 12x – 4 – 3 = 0

= 14x – 7 = 0

Transposing -7 to RHS and it becomes 7

= 14x = 7

Multiplying both side by (1/14)

= 14x × (1/14) = 7 × (1/14)

= x = (7/14)

= x = 1/2

By substituting 1/2 in the place of x in given equation, we get

LHS,

= (2 × (1/2)) – 4 + (12 × (1/2)) – 3

= 1– 4 + 6 – 3

= 7 – 7

= 0

By comparing LHS and RHS

= 0 = 0

∴ LHS = RHS

Hence, the result is verified.
