Solve the following systems of equations:x + 2y = \(\frac{3}{2}\)2x + y = \(\frac{3}{2}\)

Answer»

 x + 2y = \(\frac{3}{2}\)

⇒ 2x + 4y = 3 …(i)

 2x + y = \(\frac{3}{2}\)

⇒ 4x + 2y = 3 …(ii)

Multiplying eq2 by 2 and subtracting from eq1

2x + 4y – 8x – 4y = 3 – 6

⇒ - 6x = - 3

⇒ x = 1/2

Thus,

2 × 1/2 + 4y = 3

⇒ y = 1/2
