Solve the quadratic equation by factorization:3x2 – 14x – 5 = 0

Given.

3x²– 14x – 5 = 0

⇒ 3x²– 14x – 5 = 0

⇒ 3x²– 15x + x – 5 = 0

⇒ 3x(x – 5) + 1(x – 5) = 0

⇒ (3x + 1)(x – 5) = 0

Now, either 3x + 1 = 0 ⇒ x =\(\frac{ -1}{3}\)

Or, x – 5 = 0 ⇒ x = 5

Thus, the roots of the given quadratic equation are 5 and x = \(\frac{ -1}{3}\) respectively.
