Solve : TV can't access computer files over LAN? |
|
Answer» Last winter I bought a Sony Bravia KDL- 46EX710 DLNA LCD/LED TV it is connected to the internet through my Linksys WRT160Nv3 router via LAN, everything worked perfect when I stopped using it for the summer, this past week I turned it back on and tried to ACCESS my photos on my PC through the TV and it said it could not find the server, I have tried everything but to no avail. I have stopped my AVG ANTIVIRUS and Windows firewall, still can't access the files on my PC, the PC'sin the home can access each other over this router, even the internet is accessed by the TV over this router so the router and TV are connected but the TV can not access the computers over this router, I have tried a new ethernet cable and still nothing. I'm not sure how the TV exactly works, but a quick google search shows that you need a DLNA server on your PC running... You will need to set up a firewall exception for the DLNA server. WMP 11 includes a DLNA server. The TV is DLNA, where would I find DLNA on my PC? as I STATED this COMBINATION worked last winter, all I did was not use the TV this summer, and the TV does access the internet through the router, it just can't access the PC files, I have turned the Windows firewall off for now. Thanks, please keep trying http://www.agoraquest.com/viewtopic.php?topic=35037&forum=70 How to turn your PC into a DLNA server.you really have the answer, problem is with my computer, for some reason Media Player isn't working properly and when I click on Library then media sharing placing the check in "Share my media" dosen't do anything, on my wife's computer the TV immediately connected after this step. Any idea what to do? Thanks, you are on the right track, I completely forgot about Media Player, must be old age. I have never had any issues with WMP, but if it would be possible to do a fresh install of WMP 11, that would be nice. You can also repair your existing installation. Please make sure to back up all of your existing media. http://www.thewindowsclub.com/repair-windows-media-player-with-fix-wmp-utility You could also go into "Add or Remove Programs" and manually uninstall, then reinstall WMP.Quote from: Transfusion on September 20, 2011, 10:31:29 PM I have never had any issues with WMP, but if it would be possible to do a fresh install of WMP 11, that would be nice.
