Solve : Unable to connect thru internet explorer but both wireless and cable are connect?

Answer»

My wife was traveling and opened an email that killed my ability to connect to the internet. I have symantec and a scan recognizes and quarantines a trojan horse.

The wireless connects with an excellent signal and the same for the wired network card. I get ip addresses, etc.

I checked internet options and it is configured to AUTOMATICALLY detect....

The laptop runs Windows XP...

Any suggestions?
Please post here the output of the command ipconfig /all

(start->run->cmd (enter)
ipconfig /all >c:\ipcfg.txt (enter)

copy the content of ipcfg.txt here)I did a system restore back a month and I was able to get it running to update the anti virus..it quarantined a trojan horse and w.32 worm. I don't know if either was the real cause...here is the ipconfig
that seems to be working now.

Your router acquires right settings for it's wan connection? (Your tcp/ip settings you presented seem to be FINE).
If you try with an alternative operating system the problem is solved? (alternative operating system on a cd, they don't need to be installed on computer, just boot from a cd: knoppix, ubuntu - as examples).
