Answer» Hi, I have a Dell dimension 2400 with a dial-up internet connection using one phone line. I was using the internet when I started to be unable to see any webpages. I checked with both firefox and IE, and both say that the server/website cannot be found. Another computer using the same connection but a different port is able to view websites. I have had similar problems before, but disconnecting, and then connecting again WOULD FIX it, which hasn't worked this time. I am able to connect to the internet normally, I am just not able to access websites. Also, trend MICRO is unable to detect a connection. When I disconnect and then reconnect it does not fix the problem, but when I disconnect, restart the computer, and then reconnect, it works again.From what I am reading it looks to me like you may have a bad modem, try installing an external modem and see if that FIXES your problem.

Why?Sorry, I don't think I'll be able to use the computer with the other phone jack. But I have some new information now.
